Lots and lots of rain. Leaving the flat swamp lands I could see the drainage ditches filled to within a few centimetres of the level of the road. I suspect the rain today will have covered them. Scary is that once the road is covered in water, even if it is just a centimeter deep, you can&#8217;t tell where the road edges are. So you can happily cycle into the ditch on the side.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/brej.org\/blog\/?attachment_id=943\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-943\"><a href=\"http:\/\/brej.org\/blog\/?attachment_id=943\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-943\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-943\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/brej.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SDC12129-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brej.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SDC12129-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/brej.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SDC12129-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Up in the hills, the situation wasn&#8217;t much better. Crossing things like this takes a bit of faith as you dont know what is under the water, and while clipped in, falling sideways will be disaster. Here you can see an old station.
